Eastern Blue Star is an erect 2-4 foot native perennial herb with narrowly lance-shaped to elliptic 21/2-5″ leaves. The stem is topped by a pyramid shaped cluster of pale blue, star shaped 5 petal flowers. Both the stem and outside of the flower petals are glabrous. The fruit is a narrow 2-4″ follicle.

Mature Growth: 2-4 feet high
Soil: damp to wet. Floodplains, Mesic hardwood forests, and rich slopes.
