Perennial Wild Plumbago
Plumbago scandens or zeylanica is a species plumbago. The leaves are petiolate or sessile and have ovate, lance-elliptic, or spatulate to oblanceolate blades that measure 2-3½ × 1–1½ ins in length. Bases are attenuate while apexes are acute, acuminate, or obtuse. Inflorescences are 1¼–6 ins in length and have glandular, viscid rachises. Bracts are lanceolate and 1-3 × ½–¾ ins long. The heterostylous flowers have white corollas ¾–1¼ ins in diameter and tubes ½–1¼ ins in length. Capsules are ¼–½ ins long and contain are reddish brown to dark brown seeds.  Plant extracts have shown potent mosquito larvicidal activity against the larvae. Extracts of Plumbago zeylanica have shown activity against canine distemper virus.

Native to coastal hammocks from south-central to south Florida
