Salvia microphylla x greggii 'Red Velvet'
A tough, Silky Red, multi-branched perennial. Drought tolerant once establishes. Good garden soil or sandy loam, humus and lime are helpful. The plant produces flowers its first year and grows rapidly, attaining full size in its second year. Adored by hummingbirds and butterflies but usually ignored by deer. Deadheading will promote flower production. In late winter, remove all woody stems as close to the ground as possible to encourage new growth. Beautiful salvia to grow in a mass planting.
