Salvia confertiflora Firebrand, Harvest Sage
Confertiflora means "crowded with flowers. Blooms are borne in late autumn of coral orange flowers and will continue until first frost. Large foliage with leaves 7" long and 3.5" wide, dark green with a yellowish undertone. Blooms and stems are heavily weighted and needs support of staking and wind protection. Prune heavily in early spring or late winter. Very drought tolerant once established and likes sandy loam soil with weekly watering and top dress with lime. A butterfly and hummingbird magnet! Great for floral arrangement in the fall.
