Iochroma cyaneum ‘Royal Blue’
Erect to spreading shrub with downy shoots of umbel like clusters of up to 20 tubular, deep purple-blue flowers, 2 inches long with partly reflexed petal tips, are produced mainly in summer. Member of the nightshade family, Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia). Grow in average well drained soil and water moderately during the growing season. Full sun to partial shade, shelter from cold and drying winds. Apply liquid fertilizers every month during the growing season, during the winter just keep moist. Pinch back young plants to encourage bushiness, prune after flowering. All parts of the plant is poisonous if ingested.
Zone 9b-11 maybe zone 8 with extra winter protection.
Can be grown in heated greenhouse in cooler areas.
