Callicarpa americana
The ones I have at the woods' edge probably were deposited from bird droppings but I'd recommend this shrub to any and all. This shrub requires little care or maintenance. All I do for them is to cut them back severely at the end of Winter and give them a feeding of 15-30-15 plant food. I've found it not necessary to give them any more plant food during the growing season. During periods of drought, I water them weekly. The color and arrangement of the berries is fascinating. I've seen mockingbirds and mourning doves eat the berries them along with the Northern Bobwhite quail and the occasional wild turkey.
